Light is weight - This old truism of experienced indoor gardeners is still valid today.
Old technologies such as high pressure sodium lamps (NDL) and energy saving lamps (ESL) are increasingly being replaced by new, modern LED technology. And the advantages are obvious.
Above all, the energy efficiency of an LED lamp is unbeatable because far less of the expensive electricity is converted into unnecessary waste heat. Because even if media reports about grow busts regularly mention heat lamps that have been found, the waste heat from old lighting systems is often a major problem. The plants react to excessive ambient temperatures with slower growth and the increased evaporation and perspiration quickly lead to the formation of mold.
But it is not only here that LED lamps have a clear advantage, the metabolism of the plants is also much more efficient due to the higher usable light spectrum, which of course results in a much higher crop yield.
